FINAL REFLECTION: MY ENGLISH COMPETENCE 2012

Really, I don't know which oral presentation I have to choose. For me, anyone of them are good. But I think the best I have done is the last one, my oral presentation about my Research Project. (although my horrible voice in that moment!)
Best oral evidence:

Best written evidence:

On one hand, I have choose my presentation of my Research Project because it was the first oral presentation I didn't need to read the paper all the time. In addition, I love the theme, so it was more easier for me to talk about it :)

On the other hand, I think my best written post was "WHY?".  I'm not saying it's very well written, without spelling mistakes... However, I believe it's a post who's well structured. Moreover, it's very philosopher and interesting... For this reason I think it's my best work in this blog.

FINAL REFLECTION: MY ENGLISH PROGRESS

In comparation of my first post in 2010, my english expression has enriched. Most of all with the connectors and the adjectives: slighlty, quite, extremely, although, as long as,.. I learnt too a lot of false friends as: carpet, sensitive and sensible, college,... and I have learnt also a lot of phrasal verbs I didn't know before! But the most important thing I can see, is that I have more fluency of language now. I can express myself very well in comparation from 4th ESO. Here you can see my first post:
http://natalia-space.blogspot.com.es/2009/10/email-to-teacher.html

However, I don't find too much differences with the structure and the content in my posts.

Here you have my first podcast:
http://www.divshare.com/download/9609283-18c
And the last oral presentation:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=H7MFzlaVVJg

Moreover, I think I have improved my pronunciation.. But not too much. It's so difficult for me... In any case, I can say I have developed my fluency of language and presentations this year. Before, It was impossible to me to do an oral presentation... I don't like them either, but at least I could do them in a more easily way... On the other hand, when I translate my Rawiora's short movie I learnt a lot, because I used typical english expressions which said to me Rebecca.

In addition, I have to say that I have found a personal development in my posts. I'm the same childish girl who talks always about the same impossible things, but I can see an evolution in my blog, a personal and mentally evolution. As long as the years have passed, I have became more worried... Selectivitat and my future are near, and I notice it. In 4th ESO my posts were more optimists and childish!

INFORMAL LETTER: DEATH OF A BEEKEEPER

Hi Paul!

How are you? I miss you a lot... I hope you are fine living in London!

I still remember you used to love nature and animals. I've just finished to read a book called "Death of a Beekeeper", by Lars Gufstasson and I thought you would love it. It talks about a Beekeeper called Edward, who explains his work is dying in his country. However, he carries on and he explains how he does it. A part from that, he talks about his life with the bees. It's very interesting! Do you remember when you told me you wanted to be a beekeeper?? I thought of you instead when I read it!

By the way, next summer I'll go to London... I'd love to met you! I hope we'll keep in touch.

See you soon my friend!

Rawiora Sylew

VÍCTOR: A PERSON WHO HAS MADE AN IMPRESSION ON ME

From the first time I met with my best friend, Víctor, he made an impression on me. I had never believed I would met someone so similar to me. I met him on Internet, thanks to our interest in PortAventura.

Víctor is 17 years old and he lives in Barcelona. He's slightly tall and quite thin (although he's always saying he's fat...) He has brown curly hair and his eyes have green effects when the Sun shines on them.

He's very creative and smart. I love this fact of him! He's always writing stories and playing the piano. (He made Rawiora's soundtrack! He's an artist.) I REALLY love his imagination.

He loves cinema and music. His thoughts are so similar to mine. So many times we have a strange connectation. I mean, I know what he's thinking in a moment and he knows what I'm thinking. It's like a telepathy!

In conclusion, he always knows how to make me feel better. I admire him and the things he does. I wish our friendship never died.

EAST AFRICAN FAMINE (SOMALIA)

"Tens of thousands of Somalis have died of malnutrition-related causes; three million Somalis are in urgent need of aid and more than 10 million are at risk. By early August, aid groups were trying to scale up their operations, and the United Nations began airlifting emergency food. But the two parts of southern Somalia where famine was declared are controlled by Al Shabab, a brutal Islamist group that is aligned with Al Qaeda. Many aid organizations are reluctant to venture into Shabab areas because of the obvious dangers."

http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/subjects/f/famine/index.html

Where are human rights here? People have the right to food. Why are they dying of starvation? Why Al Shabab is denying to the population this elemental right? Why doesn't he help them?

In my country there's a lot of problems. I don't even want to think about them. However, we are so much privileged. Of course we don't have all the human rights... but at least, we can feed ourselves. The situation it's different.. but I can't tell you why. Really, I don't know why the world it's divided up in this way.. I wish I could know it because I would try to change it. We can help them, but Al Shabab is making it more difficult...

Today, as almost everyday, I'm in a pessimistic way and I don't see any solution... because we need to change world's system and it's unlikely. However, we can fight for a better way of life, of course, as ONGs does!!

FORMAL LETTER TO BARACK OBAMA

Natàlia Sellés
Av. Olot número 1
1470 Girona
Sant Pere Pescador

March 19, 2012

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President;

Joseph Kony has been acting in a cruel way for twenty years. He is the most dangerous criminal in the world currently, at least to our knowledge. I am sure there are more dictators like him. Anyhow, thanks to Jason Russell, we know who he is and what has been doing Kony and now is in our hands stop him. However, we need a powerful state as United States to achieve it.

All people are entitled to their human rights, but in Uganda it seems impossible right now. I hope you can order the army to stop him, because everyone deserve to have their rights. In consequence, we all hope you can understand the situation and the army can achieve this dream which all we have.

Yours faithfully,

Natàlia Sellés

HUMAN RIGHTS QUESTIONS

    1. What are human rights?
Human rights are a fundamental rights which a person has to have because she or he is a human being. They are universal, applicable everywhere, and egalitarian, the same for everyone.
    2. Why were they created?
There are many reasons to know why were they created. First, because it was necessary: everyone has to have their human rights. On the other hand, there have been a lot of barbarous acts which have outrage the conscience of mankind and it's essential that man doesn't be compelled to have recourse to rebellion against tirany and oppresion. Also, there have to be a friendly relations between nations, because all of us are humans and all of us have to be treated as equal.
    3. How many human rights are there?
There are 30 articles of the human rights.
    4. Which human right were you not familiar with? Mention an example where this human right is respected and where it is not respected.
    1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
I think this human right is not respected and we can demostrate it even here, in Spain. There aren't a spirit of brotherhood between spanish people, or so it seems. And also, I don't believe we born free. It seems our lives are written. You have to go to school, later to the highschool, you have to study more and after, you have to work (if you find one). It's what they want, and it seems it's what you have to do. All of us. Where is freedom? It's only an illusion. But well, we don't have to be so radicals. It's true we are able to chose what we want... a job, a house, a car, a wife or a husband,...
On the other hand, were are the equal rights? Spain's King has not the same laws as the other people, for example. Or you can find it in the example of Camps: why is he different? In my opinion, people have to think about this article.
    5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Luckily, where I live this human right is respected. But there are a lot of countries where, sadly, it isn't. For example, we can see Uganda. And I'm sure there are a lot of countries more that we don't know about. If we see the past, all the human rights were broken. The clearest example: nazism. A thousand of jewish were subjected to torture and inhuman treatment.

MY IDEAL PARTNER

My ideal partner should be between 17 and 25 (in exception of Johnny Depp). It would be better if he lives near me, in Catalunya.

I prefer if he's tall, with rather long hair and also broad-shouldered. I really love men who have a stubble! I definetely want someone who takes care of himself.

On the other hand, he has to love travel and he has also to love rollercoasters! A part from that, cinema is too important for me. Consequently, I want somebody who likes it! By the way, he mustn't be extremely religious! I'm rather nervous, so I need someone who can calm myself. Finally, I have to say I definetely hate routine... for this reason I want a man who can make me feel that everyday is different.
I love my independence, so in consequence I can't be with somebody who always wants to control me. He mustn't be possessive or extremely jealous! I'm very fond of my friends and I don't want to go away from them.

In conclusion, I hardly ever would ask someone out only for his body. For me, the most important thing is the inner part and his actions.

When I was writing it I was thinking of a particular person. Here you are a photo of him :)

Isn't he cute? Joke, I was thinking of another person ;)
Here you are:

He's my ideal partner, Pau :)

CAN INTERNET MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?

First of all I have to say I've lost the checked opinion essay! I don't know where's my head... and where's my essay. So I'm going to put here my first write! Sorry.

Now, Internet is in our lives. The most part of people of developed countries can't live without it. Consequently, we all know the advantages, because if we don't know them we wouldn't use Internet... But what about the inconvenients?

On one hand, Internet lets you express your ideas and all the world can see them, so you can change a lot of minds. You can also a start a revolution! For example, 15M movement. You can meet new people, find old friends... and also find a job! As a result, it have a lot of power and it can change your life.

On the other hand, it has a lot of iconvenients too. People can find you through Internet and they can hurt you. At the same time that Internet can change your life, it can also destroy it. For example, it's great you can buy on Internet... although someone can also steal all the money of your bank account. Moreover, people can see all the things you're doing thus it's easy to find you anywhere.

In conclusion, Internet can changes our lives to a positive or negative ways. It can make the world a better place, of course. However it can make the contrary... Consequently, be careful with it!

DIALOGUE

Natàlia: Grandpa, why are you so old?

Adrian: Cause I was born too many years ago!

Natàlia: And you Grandma, too?

Paula: Yes my Dear.

Adrian:

Natàlia: And did you find it?

Paula: Yes, it is. But life is not a bed of roses!

Natàlia: Anyway, I want to live it. And in this moment get older doesn´t frightens me! I love you grandparents!

CAN WE LIVE WITHOUT HUMOUR?

Humour is everywhere, you only have to let it enter to your life. It's an important thing because it makes you laugh, your problems seems to disappear. Of course we can live without humour... but who wants to live without it? It would be a boring and sad life. We all want to be happy, don't we?

From my point of view, when we walk hand in hand with humour, all seems to be better. Let's imagine you have got a really bad day: you have two options. To get depressed and feel unhappy because of your worries or to see the situation with humour, so don't give up. Give it a try! It makes you a positive person and that says a lot about you. Laugh everytime you can do it, it's a magical thing.

The days when you don't feel fine... what do you prefer, to listen sad songs or to watch an humour program? A joke can put a smile on your face, thus listen to it!

In conclusion, without humour our lives would be boring and horrible... therefore it means you can't live without it: give it a try! Because a sad life, is not life.

MY DREAMS

Hi Sonia, I'm Natalia :)

I'm going to talk about my dreams; I have a lot!
I have always been a dreamer... When I was younger my most important dream was to be a Pokemon trainer, live in Neverland and never grow up, or to receive Hogwarts letter that lets you study there.. And how about to go with Frodo Baggins in his adventure, or to be with Edward Scissorhands in his mansion? And I have to say that these dreams still living inside me. So as you can see I have a lot of impossible dreams. It would be better that I talk with you of more "real" dreams, isn't it?

Now my biggest dream is to be able to study what I want. And of course, can work in a future of that. I'm very fond of cinema, and I hope I can enter to the College in Barcelona to study Audiovisual Communications. My other dream is to travel a lot. I want to know better the world! Greece, USA, England (specially Liverpool!),... and of course, New Zealand, my paradise. I want to live in New Zealand for a period. It would be incredible...

Apart from that, my other dream is to meet with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp (why not?) It's more probable than the others!
Seriously, now my biggest dream as I have said is to enter in the College. Afterwards all the other will come (maybe). I hope in my future I can travel a lot (and I'll meet with Tim and Johnny *joke*). Finally, one of my other dreams is to help the Earth. The animals, the ecosystem... all what I can. It's so sad what the humans are doing with our Mother, the Earth... Can you imagine me working in the Greenpeace? I like it!

In summary, I don't know why, maybe because I'm aquarius and I'm air, so my mind is always far from here... but I know that I have been always dreaming impossible things and that I'll do it forever! My other broken dream is to be in a Beatles concert... I know that's impossible (maybe when I die) but I'll dream it forever! Can I be more stupid? (yes, I can :D)

And that's all. During my seventeen years of life I have had a lot of dreams, but if I talk about all them it will be long! And I suppose that in this moment I have forgot some of them... but well, I have told you about the most important ones for me.

I hope you don't think that I'm mad! I'm just a dreamer...

See you soon,

Natàlia

FINAL REFLECTION

In my opinion, my level of english between first posts and latest, they haven't changed a lot.But maybe the latest are best explained than the others; recently I have used some new words or for example the conditional, that I didn't understand it very well before.

The activity which shows best my level of english, for me, is all the writings that are in this blog. Because I think my oral level is a bit bad...there are some times my pronunciation is so bad, I use a lot my catalan pronunciaton... it's difficult for me...Well, but I have to say I have improved!

For me the most useful activities have been to watch movies, because I can listen pronunciation better. And do this blog because I have written a lot and for this reason I've learnt to express better.

The worst activity has been the Workbook, because when I was doing it, I was all the time thinking it was very useless.  It's very "mechanical", you don't have to think a lot... So in my opinion, you don't learn with it, the truth is you get bored easily.

As I have said, I have liked do the blog. It's good because you can talk about things you love, but in my opinion his repercussion in the mark is low. It would have to count more, because is a lot of work!! So next year I hope we continue doing it.

Happy Holidays!!

Musicians have an important role in change society. Do you agree?

In my opinion, people can change the world or society, but most of them are "invisible" for the other people. So they need to be famous, to be recognized.

It seems to me that if this person is an important musician, can, of course, change society (or most of it). I think that people need to follow someone. Most of them believe in (and follow) God. The other people have their own person or thought, their own religion.

I also believe that great musicians can open your eyes, as for example Bob Dylan or John Lennon. Their songs talk about love and peace, about changing the world and society. And... what do the fans? They open their eyes because their idol, their own God has talked about it.

So, I agree with that. I believe that musicians (and other famous people with a lot of fans) can change society. I guess that musicians can do even more, because of music. Music is magic in my opinion; a series of musical notes can change your air and your thoughts. Is like being in a trance.

So... I hope that musicians can change society into a better thing.

Informal Letter

C/Nowhere num.8
Sant Peter Fisherman
8th March 2011

Dear Kieron,

I'm glad to hear about you. Thanks for your letter! Sorry I haven't written for so long but I've been very busy.

You've asked me what places you can go. In my opinion, you have to go to Paris (and to Disneyland, of course!). There, you can go to the Eiffel Tower, and to the Louvre Museum. I know that you love architecture and art in general, so you must go there!

By the way, you have to go to Notre Dame's Cathedral (maybe you'll see Cuasimodo!).
Definetely, if you go to Paris, you must go to Disneyland. It's magic! I'm sure you'll be a child again, and I'm sure too that you'll enjoy it a lot.

And Kieron, you have to know that I want to go to Ireland to visit you. (I hope that you'll still be there when I come with you).

My parents have bought me a puppie, so if we travel to Ireland, we'll have to bring him! It's so beautiful... his name is Sírius.

Well, that's all for now. I'll phone you someday! Bye for now, my friend... I'm looking forward too seeing you!

Love,

Natàlia.

Mrs. Pintó
IES CASTELLÓ D'EMPÚRIES
Castelló d'Empúries

Dear Mrs.Pintó,

I want to talk about some aspects of the high school, IES Castelló d'Empúries.

First of all, I have to say that I agree with the projects that the high school does, like the journey to Italy and London, the activities of the music's departement, the Playback of 4th... I agree and I'm pleased too, with all the classrooms with projectors and computers, and apart from that, with the decoration of the school in general.

But on the oter hand, I disagree about some aspects of the excursions. I mean, that if we are not 60% of the people that want to go to one excursion, it will not be done.
Another thing is that the "Batxillerat" students do not have free transport or do not have free lunch in the high school. But in my opinion, I totally disagree that the students of Empuriabrava have to pay the bus and the lunch. I wonder why they have to pay, if Empuriabrava is a part of Castelló, it's the same village.

That's all I have to tell the departement and you about the high school.

I look forward to hearing about it. Thank you!

Yours faithfully,

Natàlia Sellés.

Thirteen & Adrian Mole

Tracy at first was a good student, nice person, with true friends,... but she let influence by other people for be more popular. She starts to take drugs, alcohol, have sex, steal... Evie isn't a good model for her, but she should have personality, and she shouldn't try to be as Evie!
Adrian isn't as Tracy. They haven't got a great relation with his parents, because the parents of Tracy are divorced, and the parents of Adrian almost have divorced, too. But Adrian has got more personality, and he doesn't lets him influence by other, so I think that he won't be as Tracy. He doesn't takes drugs, alcohol... but he has got adolescent problems; he fall in love, he discuss with his bestfriend...

There are a lot of people like Tracy. I have lost some friends because they wanted to be like others, and not themselves. They are now taking drugs, a lot of alcohol, they don't study... It's very sad.

"If you're not that way, you're nothing"
This quote it's VERY STUPID. In my opinion, I think that if you want to be as others and not yourself, then yes, you're nothing. Only a copy.

"Beauty is truth"
Tracys is a fashion victim because she wants to look good. She's very surface, and she doesn't see the inside of a person. She only think to buy nice clothes for be "popular" and "cool" (and she's only a idiot, but she doesn't see it.)

I think that the movie is shocking, because I can't believe that there are so many idiots in the world. Moreover, Tracy and Evie are only 13 years old!
Adrian is an adolescent too, but he's more responsable.

Email to teacher

Hello teacher! I'm Natàlia Sellés and I'm 16 years old. Last year I got a 10 of English, so this year I hope that I get good marks too.

If I have to explain something about me only appears one thing in my head... I love cinema. It's incredible how you can disappear for moments watching a film. And it's also incredible how one film can enter very inside of a person...
My favorite director of cinema is Tim Burton. I think that he's a genious. His films are very strange... therefore I love all them. I adore Peter Jackson too, but I've only seen 5 movies of him... The three films of The Lord of the Rings, The Lovely Bones and King Kong. Of Tim Burton I've seen all his movies and all them are incredibles!
And well, my favorite actor is Johnny Depp. I really discovered him with Edward Scissorhands two years ago... After see this film and Sweeney Todd, I was very impressed and I began to see movies of them. And my "obsession" continuous.

I love english language. I always see my favorites movies in english! I see also interviews and I read magazines with english.
Listening interviews and movies in this language, I can hear differents accents. For example, Peter Jackson is from New Zealand and he has got a different accent that Johnny Depp, that he's from EEUU.

My dream is go to New Zealand after the College for live there. I started to love this country after to see The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and after did the "Credit de Sintesi" in 3rd of ESO of it too. In the College I want to do Audiovisual Communications :)

Well, the last thing to say is that I hope this year will be allright, and I hope I can approve with good marks this subject!

Story of a life

Once upon a time, there was a man called Tim Lewik. He lived in Heidelberg, with his family. He worked on what he liked most: the cinema. It was the most incredible thing that he had ever found. For him, it was so east to disappear from the world through the cinema...

It was not until 1944, that que hit the ground with his feet for the first time. His son, his only son who he loved very much, died in World War II. You could'n express with milions of movies or words the pain that he felt inside. These feelings, were growing more and more every day, until his life became a nightmare. Every day was hell for him. He wanted to do eveything to get his son back. He could try to revive it with electricity, like Frankenstein or maybe his son was close to him, in his heaven. It was then that he began making spiritual rituals to turn him into how he was. This made him obsessed with everything that was his, which already passed. He couldn't see reality. He couldn't see his wife, or people in general, not even his dog Sparky.
His wife, Ari Owar, decided to help him as much as possible, but he never wanted help. With so much pain, Ari decided to join him in an asylum in 1947, so that the professionals could help him and try to get his pain out.

There, in the asylum, he discovered many things that he were ignoring. He discovered music, playing the piano and doing it the way he liked it. The way to express himself through painting, knowing well his own art. He found each and every character that had appeared in his films. He saw them beside him, advising him on what to do. His whole life had become a sweet nightmare, an illusion. And it was then that he started writing the script for his next film, after several years out of this world.

After a few months, waking up, he found someone he had never imagined finding in the foot of his bed with white sheets. He was there, watching him and smiling. Those green eyes of his mother, or wife for Tim, with the long hair disheveled. His son. Just as he had falled into a big hole due to the death of his son, in the same way his son got him with these words:

- "Father, you must be strong and go forward. It's taking too long. My mother miss you very much. You have been my whole life for me, literally, but I've only been a chapter of yours. Don't be afraid to express your feelings, father. You have a lifetime ahead and you can fight any obstacle. Make more movies father. Tell our story..."

He closed his eyes for a moment and when he reopened them, the face of his son had disappeared, but not this presence. From the air, he heard "I love you...", and the only answer he knew was "Me too, my son... me too..."

Things have improved a lot for Tim since that moment. He left the asylum and life smile at him again. Because there is always some reason to continue forward, to find happiness. So he said:

-This is the story of my life. I was about to disappear from the real world, but as you can see, I'm still here. I mean, everyone of you don't give up, never. Experience things, and know who you are more and more. People who die, do not go unless you forget them first. They're still here, like a short breath around you. I could say many things, but why? All I need to tell yourself is: I wish you all a long and happy life."

People applauded when the film finished. All with a smile and more sensitive those who were with some tears.

This was not the las film of Tim Lewik. He made many more and he also bought a piano. Undoubtedly, he lived happily ever after, beside his wife.
